Aberrant promoter methylation of T-cadherin in sera is associated with a poor prognosis in oral squamous cell carcinoma

چکیده
T-cadherin functions as a suppressor gene, which is frequently inactivated by aberrant promoter methylation in several human cancers, but its status oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) has been scarcely studied. Thus this study aimed at exploring the clinical significance and prognostic value of sera patients with OSCC. Methylation-specific PCR (MSP) bisulfate sequencing (BSP) was performed to examine T-cadherin. Then, associations between various clinicopathological variables or patient survival were investigated 202 OSCC 68 controls. detected 62 out (30.7%) OSCC, corresponding tissues confirmed BSP. Methylation significantly associated advanced tumor T-stage (P < 0.001) N-stage = 0.003), positive lymphatic metastasis 0.004) recurrence 0.001). In addition, had worse overall 0.018) progression-free than without, an independent factor for (HR: 3.626, 95% CI: 1.112-9.624, P 0.007) 4.201, 1.562-10.038, These results demonstrated that risk factors poor outcomes, may act potential marker

Aberrant GRK6 promoter methylation is associated with poor prognosis in hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma.
Hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (HSCC) is one of the most common head and neck cancers with high invasiveness and poor prognosis. To identify targeted therapeutics against metastasis, a better understanding of the regulation of HSCC cell invasion is needed. In recent years, G protein-coupled receptor kinases (GRKs) have been implicated in cancer metastasis through phosphorylation of the ...
متن کاملOverexpression of MMP13 Is Associated with Clinical Outcomes and Poor Prognosis in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Matrix metalloproteinase 13 (MMP13) plays a central role in the MMP activation cascade that enables degradation of the extracellular matrix and basement membranes, and it is identified as a potential driver in oral carcinogenesis. Therefore, this study aims to determine the copy number, mRNA, and protein expression of MMP13 in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and to associate these expressio...
متن کاملDecreased expression of BATF2 is significantly associated with poor prognosis in oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma.
BATF2, also called SARI, is associated with several cancer types, and loss of BATF2 expression is frequently detected in aggressive and metastatic cancers. The expression of BATF2 was previously shown to slow the growth rate of malignant tumor cells injected into athymic nude mice, and decreased expression of BATF2 has been correlated to poor prognosis in hepatocellular carcinoma. However, the ...
متن کاملAnalysis of SEPT9 Gene Promoter Methylation Status in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Introduction: The changes in the level of SEPT9 gene promoter methylation can contribute to the formation of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. The aim of this study was to evaluate the level of changes in the level of SEPT9 gene promoter methylation in the esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Methods: In the present case-control study, we collected 75 paraffin blocks of esophageal cancer tiss...
متن کاملClinicopatholgic Parameters Associated With Regional Lymph Node Metastasis In Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Retrospective Study
Background and Objective: Oral cancer accounts for less than 3% of all cancers. Despite recent improvement in diagnostic and treatment methods, the overall survival of the disease is unfavorable. Several studies have been performed to assess factors influencing lymph node metastasis and prognosis. The aim of this study was to evaluate some clinical and pathological factors influencing lymph ...
